Questions before you buy

Straight answers to what camera buyers ask us most.

Compact or mirrorless: which should I get?

Pick a compact if you want something light that lives in your pocket and handles travel, family, and everyday moments. Pick mirrorless if you want interchangeable lenses, bigger sensors, and room to grow as a photographer.

What's the best camera for vlogging?

Look for a flip screen, good autofocus on faces, and stable video. Cameras like the Canon G7 X series and DJI Osmo Pocket are favourites with creators for exactly those reasons.

Do megapixels really matter?

Less than you'd think. Above roughly 16 to 20 megapixels, sensor size, lens quality, and light matter far more for sharp, clean images.

Which lens should I buy first?

A 50mm prime is the classic first upgrade: sharp, bright, and great for portraits and low light. If you shoot landscapes or travel, a wide zoom is a strong alternative.
